About Indian Accouting Association

The Indian Accounting Association is an interface between academicians, professional and practitioners from various universities, business, industry and government. The main function of IAA is to promote and disseminate the knowledge of accounting and the related subjects in India and abroad. Further, it aims to undertake and encourage research in the field of accounting. Ever since its inception, the IAA has served as an important forum for raising the status of accounting both as a discipline and as an important tool for managerial decision making.

The Association was founded by academicians and professionals in accounting on March 15, 1969, (Registration No. 1429/1968-69 dated 15-03-1969) at Varanasiand inaugurated on February 14, 1970 by the Accountant General of Uttar Pradesh. It is a member organization of the International Association of Accounting Education and Research (IAAER).

Objectives Of IAA

The core activities of ICA include organization of seminars, conferences, workshops, and meetings; promotion of research; providing technical assistance and consultancy to the clientele world and publication of books, journals and periodicals, etc. The ICA, till date, has successfully organized 70 Annual Conferences throughout the country.

  • To promote the research activities in commerce and management.
  • To organize conferences/seminars on periodical basis for enabling members to assemble for brainstorming on various issues on a signle platform and develop unanimous consent on respective issues
  • To provide basic analytical tool-kit for management so that scientific approaches may be used to implement commercial and managerial applications in Industry.
  • To enhance ability of practitioners for taking decisions in uncertainty by analyzing kaleidoscopic aspects of the objects and problems.

Five Days Online Orientation Programme

Five-Day Online Orientation Programme for the Ph.D. Course Work Examination (Social Science)

The Researchers’ Forum, Department of Commerce, University of Kerala, successfully organized a Five-Day Online Orientation Programme for the Ph.D. Course Work Examination (Social Science) from 18th to 22nd February 2026. The programme was conducted online from 7.00 PM to 9.00 PM on all days, except on the third day when the session was held from 8.30 PM to 10.00 PM. The programme was designed to orient research scholars from various branches of Social Science for the Ph.D. coursework examination in Research Methodology and Research and Publication Ethics, as prescribed by the University of Kerala. The sessions focused on strengthening conceptual clarity, enhancing research aptitude, and familiarizing scholars with examination-oriented preparation strategies. The resource persons for the programme included Dr. Biju A.V., Associate Professor, Department of Commerce, University of Kerala; Dr. Gabriel Simon Thattil, Academic Director, Loyola College of Social Sciences, Trivandrum; Dr. R. Lekshmi, Professor and Head, Department of Philosophy, University of Kerala; Dr. S. Kevin, Visiting Professor, Department of Commerce, University of Kerala; and Dr. Biju T, Professor and Head, Department of Commerce, University of Kerala. The speakers provided comprehensive insights into research design, methodology, ethics in research and publication practices, making the programme highly informative and academically enriching. The orientation programme witnessed active participation from research scholars across Social Science disciplines and served as a valuable academic initiative of the Researchers’ Forum to support doctoral scholars in their coursework preparation.
