Prof. (Dr.) Biju T. is Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce at the University of Kerala, with over two decades of experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership. His research interests span behavioural finance, accounting, corporate social responsibility, entrepreneurship, sustainable local economic development, and governance.
Biography
Dr. Biju T. is a distinguished academic with over 25 years of teaching experience, including two decades in higher education institutions across Kerala. He serves as a Professor and Research Supervisor at the University of Kerala and Mahatma Gandhi University, where he has successfully guided 18 PhD scholars to completion and continues to supervise eight active research scholars.
An accomplished researcher, Dr. Biju has contributed extensively to the fields of Finance and Accounting, Rural Development, Entrepreneurship, Local Governance, Women Empowerment, and Behavioral Economics. His academic output includes 45 national and 23 regional research papers, three edited books, five chapters in edited volumes, and 55 conference presentations at national and international forums.
Dr. Biju has held several significant administrative and professional positions. He served as Research Officer at the Kerala State Higher Education Council, District Mission Coordinator for Kudumbashree (Kerala State Poverty Eradication Mission), and District Coordinator for the Haritha Kerala Mission Project in Kollam. His exemplary contributions earned him the Best District Mission Coordinator Award of Kudumbashree in 2015.

He has also contributed to faculty development initiatives at various Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centres (MMTTCs) across India, including those at Kurukshetra University, Haryana, and Bharathiar University, Tamil Nadu, among others.
Dr. Biju’s professional development includes advanced training at premier institutions such as the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) and the International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-B). His wide-ranging academic, administrative, and extension activities underscore his commitment to scholarship, community development, and capacity building.
Experience
Dr. Biju T. began his career as a Higher Secondary School Teacher in Commerce (2000–2007) before joining the Department of Collegiate Education, Government of Kerala, as Assistant Professor of Commerce (2007–2020), serving in several government colleges including NMSM Government College, Kalpetta (Wayanad); Government College, Nedumangad; BJM Government College, Chavara; and Government College, Thrippunithura. During this period, he also held significant positions on deputation, serving as Research Officer at the Kerala State Higher Education Council (2009–2012) and later as District Mission Coordinator of Kudumbashree—the Kerala State Poverty Eradication Mission (2013–2016). In addition, he worked as the District Coordinator of the Haritha Kerala Mission, Kollam, for six months on a working-arrangement basis, contributing to key developmental initiatives of the state. He joined as an Associate Professor at the University of Kerala during the year 2020 and at present serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce since 2024.
